MISS CATFACE’S HAIR DIARIES
How to install, style and look after your curly hair designs
Hi Coolest Cat 🙂 How goes your summer days? Are you connecting with your creativity, your crown and also your style ideas? Here’s a very demure guide to inspire your art and self love journey this season.
This summer has been a dream and very fulfilling. I have taken some time to rest, listen, and also decide how I would like my relationship with my hair and my designs to grow from this year onwards. It has been challenging, exciting, adventurous and most importantly, very loving. I have also made a cosmic rocket return to spending time with my own natural hair and also styling my hair extensions myself. I would highly recommend learning more about your own natural hair and what nutrients, lotions and potions go well with your natural hair.
Over my reflections during the sunny days, I have found myself asking myself more often, “what are the aspects of my natural hair that make me feel insecure?” And my definition of insecure is all the factors that stop me from styling my natural hair to my hearts desire as a staple day or evening?
My natural hair is classic kinky coils from Nigeria. I stopped relaxing my hair over 5 years ago as I quickly figured that it had become pointless. My initial intentions for chemical straightening my hair was to make it less painful to put a comb through my hair and to tame my unruly curls. Through my teen years up until my very early twenties, I applied the relaxer process myself around 3 times a year. Besides the usual side effects of hair breakage and hair texture ‘displacement’, I felt my hair was not growing properly. It was really easy for me to go natural and grow out the damaged relaxed hair. I think this process take 2-3 years, I would highly recommend regular split end trims to quicken this process. It’s also important to NOT stylist hop in your hair journey. Your hair responds differently to different hands, be mindful of that.
Today, Im very pleased and proud of my hair length, thick density and ability to grow very quickly and heal, thanks to only using natural and organic hair lotions and potions. Nowadays, my only struggle with my hair is actually quite humourous. My long term avoidance of appling heat.
Spending time your natural afro hair holds various meanings to each individual. For me, its the time where I let my curls and coils hang out. I love to create organic shampoos, conditioners and herbal potions to heal and nurture natural hair. Keep an eye out for the new leave in conditioner I have created and continue to use to help hair breakage and stress related hair loss. It’s currently only avaiable by custom order, there are lots of lotions and potions available at our Natural Doctor Apothecary.

CURLY HAIR EXTENSIONS CARE
Synthetic curly hair extensions are a fantastic way to add volume, length, and texture to your hair without the commitment of permanent changes. Whether you’re rocking them for a special occasion or as part of your daily look, it’s essential to know how to care for these extensions properly. With the right maintenance, you can keep your synthetic curls looking bouncy and fresh for a long time. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to ensure your synthetic curly hair extensions remain in top condition.
Its good to remember that synthetic hair extensions differ significantly from human hair. Catface Hair designs are made from the best premium Kanekalon Fibers, they do not have the same resilience as human hair, which means they require low maintainance.
Gentle Detangling Is Key
Synthetic curly hair extensions are prone to tangling, especially if not handled carefully. Here’s how to detangle them properly:
Use a Wide-Tooth Comb or Fingers: Firstly you can wet the curly hair before gently separating the curls with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb, starting from the ends.
Avoid Brushing Dry Curls: Never brush your synthetic curls when dry as this can cause frizz and breakage. If needed, lightly mist the hair with water or a detangling spray and a water rinse before detangling.
Avoid Heavy Products: Heavy oils or creams can weigh down the synthetic fibers and cause them to lose their natural bounce.
Styling Tips for Synthetic Curly Extensions
Styling synthetic curly hair extensions can be fun, but it’s important to avoid damage:
Scrunch, Don’t Brush: To revive curls, scrunch the hair gently with your hands instead of brushing. This helps maintain the curl pattern and volume.
Synthetic curly hair extensions are a versatile and cost-effective way to change up your look. By following these care tips, you can extend the life of your extensions, ensuring they remain vibrant, bouncy, and beautiful. Regular gentle detangling, proper washing techniques, and mindful styling will keep your synthetic curls looking fabulous for as long as possible.
When to Replace Your Synthetic Curly Hair Extensions?
Despite the best care, synthetic hair extensions won’t last forever. On average, with regular wear and proper maintenance, synthetic extensions can last anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks. If you notice significant frizz, tangling, or loss of curl pattern that conditioning and styling can’t fix, it might be time to invest in a new set. Alternatively, you can turn them in faux locs
