Β The stationβs annual flagship event which sees some of the hottest acts on the urban music scene take to the stage for one night only.
I couldn’t make it down to Leeds, so I asked some pals to check it out for you guys.
Here’s how it went down….
We arrived at the first direct arena not knowing what to expect. We took our front row seats and waited. The opening act Miquel burst on to the stage wearing the most eccentric stage outfit of the night, white leather and feathers. Surrounded by galactic visual effects he threw crazy shapes whilst clutching the mic stand and belted out his signature upbeat ballads. The stage presence of Kravitz and an ensemble worthy of Jake Shears.
BBC Radio 1Xtra today announced Lethal Bizzle, Krept & Konan, Flo Rida, Miguel, Natalie La Rose, Stormzy and Kid Ink as part of the line-up for 2015βs BBC Radio 1Xtra Live in Leeds – the stationβs annual flagship event which sees some of the hottest acts on the urban music scene take to the stage for one night only.
Between acts we went to get drinks, checking out what people were wearing as we went along. Crop tops and leggings were definitely the staple of the evening some opting to pair them with an oversized checked shirt and trainers. Others, styled their crops with tailored leather jackets and killer heels. We caught up with this trio of Tiny Tempah fans on the terrace. Travelling from Birmingham each casted a gorgeous silhouette drawing attention to their metallic jewellery and bold clutches.
We also cornered this cute couple Matt and Lucy from Leeds. Their laid back style complimented each other and we loved Lucy’s tasselled suede bag from Warehouse.
Next on stage was Natalie La Rose the 27 year old from Amsterdam performed Somebody and Around the world supported by her backup dancers. Her deep auburn hair cascading down her back she pulled off an energetic routine dressed in white high tops, jungle print high waisted shorts and a gold halter top.
After the high energy tracks she switched the pace for a soulful cover. Illuminated by a single spotlight and playing the keyboard, Natalie sang Nick Jonas’s Jealous holding the audiences attention for all the right reasons.
Next was the act we were most excited to see having collaborated with so many different artists. It’s hard to find someone who hasn’t had a Flor Rida track as the soundtrack of at least one great night out. He didn’t disappoint! He opened with I don’t like it, the crowd matched his energy on stage, dancing in the isles and surging forward towards him. At the end of his set and with the help of his entourage he was lifted of stage and carried through the audience. We were lucky enough to snap this amazing photo and be within feet of the superstar himself! (lol)
Peace out!
John and Alice
